LAS CRUCES, NM- U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Gavin Clarkson issued the following statement  after 2020 Democratic front-runner Joe Biden's remarks regarding drunk-driving illegal aliens:

"As a Harvard Law graduate who was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a drunk-driving illegal alien," Clarkson said, "I can assure the American public that Mr. Biden is 100% wrong.

"Drunk-driving endangers both innocent citizens and lawful immigrants like my wife and should flag any illegal alien for immediate deportation. Period."

The former vice president said at a Vice News forum in Iowa Monday evening that as president he would fire ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents who deport illegal aliens who have not been convicted of felony crimes. Biden also added that he doesn't "count drunk driving as a felony."

Clarkson was medically discharged from the U.S. Navy after two-and-a-half years due to complications from injuries he sustained in that accident, ending his dream of being the first American Indian astronaut.

"Any crime committed by an illegal alien," Clarkson said, "should be grounds for deportation, not to mention the fact that being here illegally in the first place is already a crime itself."
